The Secret Recipe To Improve Your Gut Health and Help Maintain Your Weight

There are a range of weight loss products on the market but as consumers we should be aware that a lot of these products are chemicals, they are not natural, and can have significant side effects including kidney and liver damage.

We should, of course, be working towards weight management through a healthy, nutritious diet and plenty of exercise. Apple Cider Vinegar is created through the fermentation of apples in to vinegar which gives it its antioxidant properties. The vinegar contains a range of nutrients including beta-carotene, potassium and calcium plus a range of beneficial acids and antioxidants that aid the body in staying healthy. It is also great for appetite suppression and increasing metabolism through the presence of acetic acid.

The Mother

The key component of Apple Cider Vinegar is ‘The Mother.’ The Mother are proteins in organic Apple Cider Vinegar which contain acetic acid and cellulose as well as a range of beneficial bacteria. This component is key to making sure it has the positive effect on your body, so ensure that you buy a raw, organic product which contains The Mother. This is what gives the liquid its cloudy appearance.

This is a simple recipe we use 5 days per week. We take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

  • 2 tbsp Organic, Raw, Apple Cider Vinegar (Try Barnes Naturals, available at Chemist Warehouse)
  • 1 lime (juice only)
  • ½ tsp Himalayan sea salt
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Top up with water before drinking (8-12 oz)

Be aware that this concoction tastes…awful. We sometimes add some Acai in to give it a fruitier flavour but to be honest it’s best just to down it as quickly as possible.

We love this concoction, it keeps us satiated and works well in speeding up the metabolism and helping to shift that stubborn bit of fat. We consume it 5 days a week, having a couple of days off is best to give your body a bit of a rest.
